Here are some questions we have received from our shooters/users:

Q: I like SSI, can I get the software and use it at my club?
A: SSI is a web based service. Our vision and idea with SSI is just that and nothing else. You do not need to install anything, worry about upgrades, license keys, backups, computers, operating systems etc as if SSI would have been a pc software. All personal info, matches, scores, results etc. is always in SSI and you can use it from anywhere. SSI is just like GMail or Facebook or... but for us shooters ;-)

Q: Does SSI require Internet access?
A: Yes and no! if you are running a large match - make sure you have one main Internet access and a secondary fall-back from a different carrier in case the first would fail (a 3G or 4G modem would be great as back-up for you). If there is no Internet access you can do all match admin in SSI and then export match details to WinMSS (only IPSC/USPSA matches).

Q: D'OH!!!, I can not enter decimal numbers?
A: Depending on where and who you are you write decimal numbers with ',' (comma) or '.' (dot) as decimal separator. To get the correct decimal separator (and also date and time formatting) go under 'my settings' and change the language. By doing this SSI will change and use the appropriate formats for this language (note: the site will remain in english).

Q: I would like to export results and competitor lists from SSI to my scoring software?
A: You can export a full match (all details) to e.g. WinMSS (IPSC). There are also several reports available in .csv format (UTF-8 encoded spreadsheet). If you have any requests just email us the format spec and we will try to get make these reports available.

Q: I would like to export classification results to IPSC/USPSA/WA1500... or other ranking service?
A: For IPSC you can shoot the stages using SSI, then export the data to WinMSS and from there upload classification results to ipsc.org. For other sports we are investigating on how to make this really really easy for you to do directly from SSI. Today you can download the results and use that information when forwarding to your organization.

Q: We need to take orders for match-ammo, food and t-shirts for our match?
A: This is easy, simply create the different merchandizes you want to offer (you can set price, to who, when and how each item is offered) and then competitors and shooter can order them from within SSI from you.

Q: In my part of the world we shoot NNN matches, can you get SSI to support this?
A: Drop us an email with info and references to this, rulebooks etc. and we will investigate this. We have limited time but given enough interest we will do our best. Perhaps you can get your organization to donate to us and we will be able to spend time on this for you!

Q: What do I do if someone turns up at the match that has not registered in advance?
A: Then you simply add him/her as a competitor to the match. To do this you choose 'add competitor' under competitors for the match. You can now search and add the shooter to the match if he/she is already using SSI or you can create a new account for this person and register him/her for the match from this new account.

Q: Why can I not edit the name of a competitor that has registered for a match?
A: At this time - all personal information about a shooter that has registered for a match such as first name, last name, email etc. can only be edited by the shooter. We are looking into this but for now due to integrity and security reasons it is only the shooter that can edit his/her own info. Still, as long as the match is ongoing or active - if the shooter log in and change any info this will be updated within the match.

Q: I think I have found a bug / error / problem with SSI?
A: Let us now and we will fix it - email as much info you can (match name, web address, what happened...) to support@shootnscore.it.

Q: How do you afford to make SSI?
A: Honestly, we don't. Please help out by donate to us so we can buy more bandwidth, bigger disks and develop more features. Shooting gear is also always welcomed ;-)

Q: Where is SSI and how do I know my matches and info is backed up and safe?
A: SSI is hosted web service and we do regular back-ups of all information and use encryption and other industry strength protection of your information and usage of SSI. We in the team behind SSI each have 20+ years industry experience from international Internet/telecoms application development and our core competence is large scale and high availability applications and network architecture.

Q: Can I use SSI with WinMSS for IPSC/USPSA matches?
A: Yes, SSI can export all match data (dates, competitor, squads, teams, stages, scores...) so you can import this into WinMSS.
